What is EnbrelThis medication is a tumor-necrosis factor (TNF) blocker, prescribed for ankylosing spondylitis (type of joint pain that affects your back), juvenile arthritis (arthritis-related condition that develops in children), psoriasis, and rheumatoid (inflammation of the joints) and psoriatic arthritis.

How does Enbrel workIt is an arthritis-changing drug. It lowers swelling and helps lower signs and protect joints from more harm. It helps swelling.

How should Enbrel be usedAdult- SC- The recommended dose is 50 mg weekly; twice weekly in plaque psoriasis. 0.8 mgkgweek in children. It is administered as an injection just under the skin by a healthcare provider.

Common side effects of EtanerceptIrritation where the shot is given. Chance of getting an infection. Wash hands often. Stay away from people with infections, colds, or flu. Feeling dizzy. Rise slowly over a few minutes when sitting or lying down. Be careful climbing. Headache. Belly pain. Damage to the nerves. This can be long-lasting.

What do I do if I miss a doseTake a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.

What precautions should I take when taking EnbrelIf you have an allergy to etanercept or any other part of this drug. If you have an allergy to latex, talk with your doctor. Some products are found in latex. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs. If you have an infection

When do I need to seek medical helpIf you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Signs of infection. These include a fever of 100.5 DegreeF (38 DegreeC) or higher, chills, very bad sore throat, ear or sinus pain, cough, more sputum or change in color of sputum, pain with passing urine, mouth sores, wound that will not heal, or anal itching or pain. Trouble breathing. Very bad dizziness. Very bad headache. Swelling in your legs or belly. Numbness or tingling in your hands or feet. Not able to eat. Very bad belly pain. Dark urine or yellow skin or eyes. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

Can I take Enbrel with other medicinesSometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. – Taking them together can cause bad side effects. – Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.
